I suggest you fill in your profile, including mileage on the car and known maintenance. It doesn't sound "normal", it sounds dangerous. I don't know what you're comparing it to, but it sounds like shocks. I wonder what the mechanic meant by "showing some signs of wear". To "pass inspection" may not be good enough. If they are showing signs of leaking they are worn out. You may have worn out bushings also. Take it to a Z mechanic if you're not qualified to inspect it.
